Alexandru Ioan Cuza Memorial Palace (38km)
A historical and architectural monument built between 1800 and 1811 in Neo-Gothic style, designed by architect Johan Freiwald. It served as the Sturdza family castle (1811–1862), the princely residence of Alexandru Ioan Cuza (1862–1866), and later as the Cuza family estate (until 1895), before being owned by the Moruzzi-Bratianu family. Between 1936–1944 it operated as the CFR Tuberculosis Hospital and was destroyed in 1944. Restored in 1979 as a museum, it houses furniture belonging to the Cuza family, cutlery, Baccara crystal, Sèvres porcelain, clothing, and personal items from the Cuza, Kogalniceanu, Negri, and Sadoveanu families, as well as paintings and sculptures by Romanian and foreign artists of the 19th century (including Nicolae Grigorescu, Constantin Lecca, Giuseppe de Nitis, Canova, and Barias). Between 1979 and 1982, the castle was arranged as a local history and ethnography museum.
